In Hogwarts Legacy, you’re regularly faced with locked doors that you can open by solving an animal puzzle. Your task in these puzzles is to find the right animal symbols.

In this guide you will find out how you can reliably solve the door puzzles with the animal symbols and what the trick is.

How to Solve the Door Puzzle With Animals and Numbers

To solve the door puzzle with numbers and animal symbols in Hogwarts Legacy follow these steps:

  • (Optional) Collect Field Guide Page with animal number combinations.
  • Calculate the missing numbers of the Door Puzzle.
  • Set the correct animal symbols on the dial.

    • 1. Find the Guide Page With Animal Number Combinations

    In Hogwarts Legacy, there is a piece of paper tucked away with a very helpful clue on how to solve the animal symbol door puzzle. To find the Arithmancy Study Guide Page, go to the Divination Classroom Floo Flame.

    Then go through the attic and take the first turn on the right. There you will find a board that outlines how to solve the door puzzle. To the right is a small chest containing the guide page. According to the guide page, the animal symbols represent the following numbers:

    • 0 = Demiguise
    • 1 = Unicorn
    • 2 = Graphorn
    • 3 = Three-headed dragon
    • 4 = Fwooper
    • 5 = Quintaped
    • 6 = Salamander
    • 7 = Octopus
    • 8 = Spider
    • 9 = Beast with many tentacles

    Note: You do not need to have collected the guide page to solve the puzzles. It is enough if you look up the combinations here on Zockify or memorize them.

    On doors that are secured with this type of puzzle, the animal symbols are always arranged in a semicircle around the door. It is important to know that the first animal symbol on the bottom left does not stand for 1, but for 0. You will find the clues from the manual page hidden on every door that is secured with this puzzle.

    2. Find the Missing Numbers

    The door riddles with numbers and animal symbols consisting of two number triangles. In the center of each triangle is a large number. Arranged around it are three circles.

    • In the first circle is a number.
    • In the second circle is a number or an animal symbol.
    • In the third circle is a question mark.

    Your task is to find out which number belongs in the circle with a question mark. For this you need to know the following:

  • The triangle represents an arithmetic puzzle.
  • The large number in the middle is the result of this arithmetic puzzle.
  • To get the result, you have to add up the numbers in the three circles.
  • If there is an animal symbol in one of the circles, replace it with the number it represents.

    The following example should clarify how you can proceed when solving the puzzle.

    Upper Triangle:

    • The result of the arithmetic puzzle is 5.
    • The puzzle is 3 + 0 + ? = 5
    • The ? in this puzzle is the number 2.
    • The animal symbol representing the number 2 is the Graphorn symbol.

    Lower Triangle:

    • The result of the arithmetic puzzle is 12.
    • The unicorn represents the number 1.
    • The puzzle is 4 + 1 + ?? = 12.
    • The ?? in this puzzle is the number 7.
    • The animal symbol representing the number 7 is the octopus.

    3. Set Correct Animal Symbols on the Dial

    Once you have identified the two missing animal symbols, you can set them on the two dials near the door.

    • On the dial on the left side of the door, you set the found animal symbol from the upper triangle.
    • On the dial on the right side of the door, you set the found animal symbol from the lower triangle.
    • Tip: If you can’t find the dials, you can use Revelio to have them marked. Revelio is a spell in Hogwarts Legacy that is considered an Essential spell. You get the spell quite early in the game automatically during the main story.

    Once you have matched the two correct animal symbols, the door will open. You can then enter the room behind it and collect your reward.

    What Are the Rewards For Solving the Door Puzzle?

    If you have successfully opened the door, you will enter a small room behind it. In these rooms behind puzzle doors, you’ll usually find a chest or two to search. In the chests, you can often find gear, such as new cloaks and robes, and other collectibles.
